LYRIC

Rakamári duniyáte mánuś pashu, jal ár háoyá;
Rakamári joř dumri
Mahul tale jhumri gáoya.

Bhálabási postari bará,
Báta postoy sopre cheņřá;
Murir saunge vegun pořá,
Hiṁ virir dál maorii deoyá.

Bhalabasi mandá mithái,
Paket bujhe’ tảo kichu khái;
Sabceye bhálabasi bhái
Mágnáte já jáy re páoyá.

In this world of diversities,
there are humans, animals, water and air;
Diverse are the slopes and streams
And singing of jhumur under mahul trees.

I love fried cakes with poppy seeds,
And poppy-seed paste with bits of chilli,
Also parched brinjal with puffed rice
And viri pulses with asafoetida and aniseed.

I love manda and sweetmeats
I eat some of these too,
Conscious of my pocket;
O friends, I love best
What I get free of cost.
