LYRIC

Ghana varasáy áji keká gáy;
Kumude kamale Kálindii kúle,
Ketakiikeshara ke bhásáy.

Ashár pradiip nibhiyá giyache,
Vrajer Gopál lukáve pařeche;
Kuinjakánane tavu nirajane
Ke jena ájio deke’ jáy.

Háráye giyáche vrajer sedin,
Gopikár hrday rikta shriihiin;
Vrajer ákásh hayeche malin,
Eká gopál sabe kandáy.

Today, the peacock sings in heavy rainy showers.
Amid lilies and lotuses, on the banks of the Yamuna,
Who floats the pollen of ketakiik blooms?

The flame of hope is extinguished,
The Gopála of Vraja has slipped into hiding,
Yet from bowers and groves in deep still silence
Someone seems to beckon me even today.

Those days of Vraja are gone for ever,
The gopiikás hearts are empty and shorn of grace,
The sky of Vraja has turned gloomy and sullen,
Gopála alone makes everyone weep.
